Our Mission

As international students, we both experienced and witnessed a lot of unexpected things and rules when we first arrived in The Netherlands. We both noticed that a huge chunk of essential information that students should know before coming here is very hard to find on the internet, and some information just isn't available online or doesn't show you the whole picture for you.

So, we came together, combined our knowledge, asked some seniors questions if we didn't know about something, and made a web portal specially for students who are coming here to study to guide them in this journey, just to make their life slightly easier. Hopefully, they do not have to go through the troubles we went through when we first arrived here.

Our History

How it started

Ok, so this will be from Krish's perspective. It was a cold night in December. My birthday was approaching and I wanted to go to a bar with my friend, but as a newcomer here I did not know where to go, so I googled and I could not know anything about a bar from Google alone as it was just general, not-detailed information.

At that point I wished there was a student-personalized website that would let me know which place would be nice for a student and not just for people who are not broke. Then, I thought if we did have a website for students, I would not have that knowledge gap which I experienced in the start. I knew with my study going on, I would not be able to pull this off in time alone. I needed help,

SO, there was this beautiful blonde Ukrainian girl in my class named Nastia who is fucking smart. She was good at coding and I kinda liked her, so this can be a nice project for her and a nice opportunity for me to impress her.

The Journey and Challenges

On my birthday (30th of December), we went out with some of my friends. After the so-called “party”, Nastia stayed over with me because she lives in Schiphol and it was kinda late. We were drinking scotch and then I proposed the idea. I could see she was not that keen on the idea, but she wanted to work on it and see where it goes. We discussed that night about this, about us, and SHE SAID YES (but only to work on the website at that time).

After months of discussion, knowledge gathering, finding people who can work on the elements we can't, like the design or social media handling, we tried to work with different people, and I am not sure if I can mention them here but the point is some collaborations worked out and some did not. We asked for our University's help to promote it and everyone we talked to was on board with the idea and thought it can go somewhere. We worked, we were writing articles, we were learning about web-design and all that stuff.

Triumph and Future Prospects

In the second half of June, we discussed that we had wasted a bit of time. There is only a month left before the summer vacation and we are nowhere near completing the website for the students who will be coming in August, so we kindly fired our designer who was not working for 4 months and was holding us down, we hired a Ukrainian girl who lives in Germany for the design and she did a really good job in a week, and we started working.

A couple of our friends also helped us with editing the articles and taking photos, and after a weirdly frustrating month we were done, just in time for our university to promote the website with the mail sent to new students, and at the last day before coming back to India for summer, Nasita finally said YES.

I am writing this in India and I look forward to meeting her again, and probably you guys will also meet us if you are attending the intro week. Look for a tall Indian guy and a blonde Ukrainian when you are choosing your intro parents and let's have a hell of a week together. So, this was our story, how we made this website and how I pulled the cutest girl in the world. Adios, until next time.
